The mission of the Jackson Field Research Station, of the U.S. Geological Survey, is to provide leadership in gathering and analyzing biological
information to support sound management of the nation's natural resources. The
goal of the agency is to work in partnership with other Department of Interior
management agencies, states, universities, and the private sector to ensure that
sound scientific knowledge is available to make critical decisions about natural
resources. While our mission continues to emphasize the impacts of contaminants
on aquatic species and ecosystems, our mission has also broadened to look at all
impacts that might challenge a species or aquatic ecosystem.
