USGS Columbia Environmental Research Center Project: Toxicity Testing of Kootenai River White Sturgeon and Bull Trout to Three Herbicides Used in the Treatment of Eurasian Milfoil

Funding Program: Contaminant Biology

Statement of Problem: Detemine toxcity of three herbicides used to control an invasive aquatic plant to the threatened Kootenai River white sturgeon and Bull trout. This work is being conducted for the Fish and Wildlife Service to provide guidance in the selection of herbicides for the control of the highly invasive european milfoil that are safe for the threatened Kootenai sturgeon.

Objectives: Conduct 96 hour toxicity tests using Renovate, Sonar, and 2,4-DMA 4 IVM herbicides with 30 day post-hatch sturgeon and bull trout.
