Historic Vegetation
Missouri General Land Office survey records provide a wealth of information on conditions within Missouri at or near the time of European settlement. Coarse-scale historic vegetation can be gleaned and used to help set sensible conservation and management priorities.
The Geographic Resources Center at the University of Missouri is using historic land survey data to model historic vegetation in Missouri. For more information email Jim Harlan at harlanj@missouri.edu.
