Hydraulic Modeling of Ozarks Stream Habitats

Figure 1.1. Aquatic communities are affected by the chemical, physical, and biological conditions of their habitat.  When base-line chemical habitat conditions are met, community level structural patterns and habitat preference often correlate strongly with physical factors such as current velocity (e.g. Gordon and others, 1992).   The importance of physical habitat characteristics have led many researchers (e.g. Bovee and others, 1998, Hogan and Church, 1989) to devise field and modeling approaches to anticipate biological effects of changing hydrologic regimes.
