Case Description

In the early morning of June 30, 1992, a Burlington Northern Railroad Company (Burlington Northern) train derailed near U.S. Highway 35, south of Superior, Wisconsin, resulting in the release of approximately 30,000 gallons of "aromatic concentrates" to the Nemadji River, approximately 19 river miles upstream from Allouez Bay of Lake Superior.
