Case Description

The Department of the Interior ("DOI"), acting by and through the United States Fish and Wildlife Service ("FWS") and the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation ("NYSDEC") (jointly referred to as the "Trustees"), finalized a settlement of $400,000 with Honeywell International Inc. and the Amphenol Corporation for Natural Resource Damages at the Richardson Hill Road Landfill Superfund (Site). The Site is located in Delaware County, New York. The Site accepted a variety of hazardous wastes that contaminated wetlands, uplands, and Herrick Hollow Creek, causing injury to fish and wildlife resources. Contaminants at the site include polychlorinated biphenyls, chlorinated solvents, and metals such as lead and arsenic. The Trustees are reviewing restoration projects in the following categories for incorporation into a restoration plan: wetland, upland, and stream restoration projects, acquisition or protection of land for conservation purposes, and projects to enhance fishing or other outdoor recreational activities.
