In May 2000 Dynergy Midstream Services learned of a leak on one of their pipelines within the Sabine National Wildlife Refuge. The leak discharged a highly volatile liquid mixture of gas components including ethane, propane, butane and heavier fractions such as distillates. Dead fish, crab, amphibian and mollusks, as well as oiled marsh, were present in the immediate area. The discharge impacted approximately 37 acres. The FWS R4 Regional Director signed on as the AO in 2000. In lieu of developing a NRDA further, in 2001 DOI signed a Settlement and Release Agreement with the RP providing $12,763 for assessment costs and restoration.
