Project Description
The major restoration actions prescribed for streams, wetlands, and lakes in the Coeur d’Alene Basin Restoration Plan emphasize the habitat functions and values of native plant communities. Native willows are typically a very important part of these plant communities and the projected need for these plants during restoration is likely to exceed their availability in the local natural environment. The project will support and enhance restoration efforts of the Restoration Partnership. The plants provided by the nursery will benefit wildlife, streams, and ecosystem health. The Guł Hnch’mchinmsh Native Willow Nursery will be on Hepton Lake mitigation property, which is owned by the Coeur d’Alene Tribe, near the St Joe River in northern Idaho.
