Abstract:
This bibliographic database includes 1,913 references to the literature
of the Rio Grande (Rio Bravo del Norte). The specific geographic area
covered extends 100 km on either side of the river from Elephant Butte
Dam in New Mexico to the Gulf of Mexico. The bibliography focuses
on the biological literature, divided into major subject areas, and also
includes supporting literature from the physical and environmental
sciences. The database is available in a searchable format on the
Internet home page of the U.S Geological Survey, Biological
Resources Division, Environmental and Contaminants Research
Center.
Purpose:
We have compiled this bibliography for researchers, resource
managers, planners and policy makers to makeaccessible what is
known about the biology of this region.

The dataset was created using ProCite's 45 different fields
(e.g. title, analytic; date of publication, etc.) plus record number,
organized into the standard workforms provided by the software
(e.g. Book, chapter; Conference Proceedings, etc.). The
standard "report" workform was modified to create a "report, whole"
and "report, section" workform. The output style was based on the
CBE (Council of Biological Editors) name-year style, with
slight modifications.
