Project Description

The primary objective of this project was to restore or enhance loon productivity in Waldo County, Maine. Tasks included conducting an initial survey of Waldo County lakes to assess loon nesting habitat and determine potentially suitable areas for placement of artificial nesting platforms, conduct a summer survey on target lakes to identify the presence of territorial loon pairs, capture and color band loon pairs within the study area, and deploy and monitor up to twelve (12) and no fewer than ten (10) loon nest rafts.
