Project Description

The City of Waynesboro will improve habitat, water quality, and recreational opportunities on city-owned land. Waynesboro will restore habitat adjacent to the South River and South River Greenway through tree planting and establishment of meadow areas using native plant species and manage stormwater through construction of urban best management practices (BMPs). This project will also create additional recreation activities through the addition or improvement of trails and river access. Waynesboro is uniquely qualified to complete this restoration on city-owned land, located near the original source of the contamination and accessible to the Waynesboro community.
